Repair schemes are imperative to the health of major jet engine OEMs. The current repair flowline at this multinational aerospace OEM was not meeting the required pace, so QR_ was set the challenge to significantly increase throughput while targeting technically difficult, but financially beneficial, schemes.

Workstream 1 — Short Interval Control

  • Ran an assessment of the current state, set a common priority of items across all control meetings, and improved efficiency through agenda tools and automation
  • Set up data capture on KPIs for successful SIC
  • Streamlined SIC meetings and toolset with regular health checks and governance with key stakeholders to align priorities and escalate blockers

Workstream 2 — reporting and improving

  • Identified existing reports and needs, prioritised metrics, and implemented a suite of dashboards delivering a single source of truth across the flowline
  • Gathered data on key activities, analysed impactful areas of improvement, deployed initiative project plans, and identified the three biggest causes of rework with a plan to drive >50% reduction in defects
